The Masterwood OMB1CN3KF model, operated by Evalock Cedar Windows and Doors is fitted with two machining units, an oscillating chisel and a horizontal router.
Paul says changing from one working cycle to another does not require complicated settings, as the Masterwood machine is fitted with easy to use, intuitive software. “The programs can be written parametrically requiring only the new length of the workpiece to be entered. The software recalculates the machining according to the new dimension. Right, left and mirror type operations are all performed automatically.”
According to Gary, Evalock has a 25 year history of buying machinery from Gabbetts. “When I was just a young fella just out of my apprenticeship, I shook as I wrote out my first $25,000 cheque for a dozen pieces of machinery I brought off Barry Gabbett when he was at Seven Hills.”
“So I have dealt with them for a long time. Over that period I would have brought machinery for many more hundred of thousands of dollars than I care to remember.”
I guess I have looked after them and they have looked after me – that’s how it works. We do the right thing by each other,” says Gary.
In terms of the new computerised mortising machine, Gabbett Machinery installed and commissioned the machine. “They also provided training and we call them every time we do something silly and they sort it out for us – the backup has been good.”
