With a successful release throughout Europe, the Australian launch of the new SCM L’invincible range was eagerly anticipated.
It was 1952 when the first L’invincible machine was launched by SCM, now this classic brand has returned to the market with a top of the line range of products from SCM. The design brief was simple, to create the most sought after traditional machines available.
The L’invincible panel saw turned the most heads at AWISA. The first thing you noticed was the large expanse of cast iron working table on the right hand side of the sawblade. This seamless table includes the full width of the ripping table, as well as the oversized outfeed table.
Second was the large table that supported the length of the panel, even when mitre cutting. The table tilted both forward and backwards 50 degrees. It’s a unique system that needs to be seen to be believed. The attached picture (“full support”) shows how flexible the table is.
Extended machine life is obviously at the forefront of the designers mind. Rather than the old fashioned roller ball bearings on the telescopic arm, SCM have engineered a THK guide system to support this table. Renowned for their strength and long life, these THK guides allow the table to be pushed with only one finger!
Demonstrations on the SCM L’invincible thicknesser also drew a crowd, with slabs of 600mm x 300mm hardwood being reduced to shavings at a phenomenal rate.
The machine features an inverter which automatically adjusts the feed speed, dependent on the motor loads. Set up times are easy, with the automatic programmer and the new interchangeable feed rollers being well received.
The success of the L’invincible launch has seen machines installed throughout Australia. With the current stock sold at AWISA, a waiting list now exists for delivery. To register your interest, contact your local Gabbett office.
