With customers now expecting a complete package from their machinery suppliers, Gabbett Group have demonstrated their unique advantages in this area.
Over two days in the Sydney showroom Gabbett Group exhibited an in house demonstration of software, nested based manufacturing, tooling and the SCM range of woodworking machinery.
Focussing on the ease with which SCM can link to a variety of software, the demonstration included beam saws, point to point machining centres and the flagship SCM Record routing centres.
The importance of this area in manufacturing is obvious when you consider customers came from as far a field as New Zealand and Perth to learn, discuss manufacturing techniques and see practical demonstrations.
Peter Large (centre), with Cobbity Grove Kitchens “It was the knowledge and know how of specialist sales representatives of the tooling, software and machinery demonstrators that made this such a worthwhile exhibition” said Mario Savaglia of Gabbett Group. “Customers were presented with an overview of the software available from Solspec, the tooling required from Crown tooling, plus how both are easily linked to the SCM machinery.”
“We demonstrated bar coding, nested manufacturing, software programs, all doing what would be called ‘typical’ jobs within the industry.”
One of the unique area’s SCM have advanced in is the use of “Telesolve” servicing. This system allows any machine to be remotely serviced from anywhere in the world. Tony Groves, who demonstrated the Telesolve connection, explains “From any of our offices we can connect to your machine, all you need is a phone. In real time we check your computer for errors and advise on any problems. All we need your operator to do is press the start button when we are ready to run. In addition to this it’s a great training tool – Your operator watches his screen and sees what we are doing, what we are checking, where the error is, meaning he gains valuable experience.”
As always, the popular Ermo range of edgebanders was a ‘must see’ for all visitors. An Australian success story, the Ermo edgbander has been described by customers as “bulletproof”. When looking over the machine it’s obvious this description is true for two reasons - One, the engineering within the machine is second to none, and two, the simplicity of its operation. The Ermo machine has built its reputation on a reliable product that’s easy to use.
The showcase also had interesting demonstrations of SCM’s vast range of traditional machines, such as spindle moulders, panel saws, thicknessers and planers – giving customers an appreciation of SCM’s leading edge designs.
